Tinnitus Dizzy Spells
Inner ear problem please help?
i went to ent who said i have a inner ear disorder but dint specify. i have constant dizziness/drunken feeling all the time. never stops. im miserable and hoping someone could give me some answers about this. i also have constant popping, tinnitus, and muffled hearing of ears. this is driving me crazy. ive read most people have dizzy spells that come and go i dont. mine is constant! is there any chance mine might go away? or is my nerve permantley damaged and ill always be like this? im so worried. thanks in advance.
also my face is always hot/flushed feeling and my right cheek is swollen. could this be due to Labrynthitis..i think this is what i have. thanks
You should see an audiologist for further testing to evaluate your dizziness, particularly since you have other auditory symptoms. At a minimum, electrocochleography and electronystagmography/video nystagmography should be performed. These are simple, non-invasive tests that assess the inner ear and balance systems. Electrocochleography tests for Meniere’s Disease, while ENG/VNG assesses the central and peripheral portions of the vestibular (balance) system.
The tests are not painful and take about 1-2 hours. If the ENT you saw does not work with an audiologist who performs this type of testing, ask for a referral.
Even with the testing, we do not always find a cause for the dizziness. Depending on the cause, you may notice that your symptoms improve over time, particularly if you have a peripheral vestibular weakness, which your body can learn to accommodate over time.
Edit: The dizziness could be labyrinthitis, but that’s unlikely to be the cause of your cheek swelling and redness.
