Tinnitus Experts

I have been told by ENT specialists that there is no cure for Ringing in the ears [Tinnitus].Experts comment?
Any medicine which we can take to reduce the ringing sound in the ears and get relief
Doctors prescribed Daflon tablets but it does not give any relief
Well, at present there is no known cure, though research is going on at this very moment.
Sometimes, in the case of loud noise having been the cause, and depending on how long the exposure to it lasted and how loud it was, tinnitus will may go away by itself in a few days or weeks.
However, if your tinnitus has gone on for some months, it is likely that it won’t resolve. But never say never, as I heard of a case that had lasted some 20 years and disappeared when the man stuck his head out of a car window (he was a passenger, by the way) when travelling at high speed on the motorway. However, I am not suggesting you do the same
Daflon is not the only drug used in the treatment of tinnitus. Sometimes mild anti-depressants or even anti-sickness drugs may be tried. I stress the word “tried” because tinnitus is one of those ailments which is very individual. What works for one person may not for another.
Some people say accupuncture helps; others say Ginko Biloba (a herb you can get from the health food store) relieves their tinnitus.
There are tinnitus maskers which “mask” the sound by replacing it with white noise.
In certain extreme cases caused by things like acoustic neuromas and vascular abnormalities, surgery might be offered.
So even if your specialist runs out of ideas for you, there is nothing to stop you trying out others’ ideas (as long as you thorougly research them first to make sure they are safe). You might even want to run them past your specialist. Do remember that your specialist is fully trained in this area. So working together with your doctor should provide the best possible treatment.
I know when I gave myself tinnitus from hitting my head during a faint, that one of the biggest things for me was learning to concentrate on other things. It was a long, slow process, but worked for me. I went from driving myself crazy trying to get back to silence, to being able to think of something else for 1 minute, 5 minutes,10 minutes, 30 and so on, till nowadays I can cope with my tinnitus without too much trouble at all.
The main thing is that you get some support so that you don’t feel alone with this.
You might like to have a look at the following site operated by the British Tinnitus Association, which will give you an insight into causes and treatments, and also offers you a helpline number where you can talk to someone about what is happening to you.
