Tinnitus…..a little help or advice people?

ok i was diagnosed with tinnitus last year after hearing the constant ringing in my ears. After many doc appointments, appointments with ENT and after having an MRI the doctors couldn’t understand what caused the tinnitus.

I was given a hearing aid and for a while it somewhat helped. A few months later it felt as though the tinnitus was no longer there, well it was but it was more quieter and i was able to hear again. Then it happened again, and again continued on for a few months and then went quieter again and hooray i was able to hear. I was hoping i wouldn’t have any more problems until recently when the loudness of my tinnitus kicked up again :(

Does this happen to anyone? am i alone in this? Can anyone suggest how i can tune the tinntus out? I know there is no cure but there’s got to be something to help me cope or manage it somehow. Its so loud and is at the point where i can’t get into conversations with anyone because i can’t hear. This makes me very depressed.

The answer of ‘chebrew2000’, above, will take you to a forum that has a specific link for tinnitus. It may be of interest. Briefly, tinnitus has one of three causes, a trigger or a medication or it is idiopathic, which means of uncertain or unknown origin. There are methods of examination that the medical profession carry out to ascertain the cause. You would be advised to consult your doctor. There are also items on the market that disguise the sound incurred by tinnitus that may prevent you from sleeping. They make sounds usually of a water-based origin like waves, a waterfall etc. These do not address the cause.

ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED, IN ANY FORUM AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS ONE. – MANY ANSWERS ARE FLAWED.

It is extremely important to obtain an accurate diagnosis before trying to find a cure. Many diseases and conditions share common symptoms.

The information provided here should not be used during any medical emergency or for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition. A licensed physician should be consulted for diagnosis and treatment of any and all medical conditions.

Hope this helps
