tinnitus high blood pressure
I’m having one big heartbeat several times, almost everyday. Can anyone advise me?

Can anyone give me some advise? I have been experiencing one big heartbeat for several times for almost every day. I’m not having a high blood pressure and don’t experience shortness of breath but, I feel there’s something wrong with my heart. I feel constant dizziness but this is due to ringing in my ears ( I think it’s tinnitus). This has been happening for several years now and now it seems to happen more often than before. Already, I went to a doctor in my home country and underwent an ECG but, didn’t find anything unusual. It scares me because it really is a big heartbeat, the sensation is quite like when you’re swallowing big piece of food. I work abroad, in a workplace where there really ain’t a real doctor (Iraq). Can anyone tell me what might I have been experiencing? Thanks.

You probably have arrhythmia. It may or may not be a big deal. I don’t know the circumstances you’re living under in Iraq, but I do know that stress or trauma can cause arrhythmia, especially if you already have compromised health. In my case I have a weak heart (partially repaired congenital heart defect with congestive heart failure). The trauma of an automobile wreck caused the arrhythmia — but otherwise I was ok. An ECG (in my case administered by some of the best cardiologists in the world) didn’t catch it. It wasn’t until I wore one of those 24 hr portible moniters that they realized I had a flutter (my particular type of arrhythmia. Medications do help control my heart rhythym now, but I underwent a procedure in which they shock the heart to kick it back into the correct rhythm. It wasn’t a big deal and now I’m holding the right rhythm.
