Tinnitus Low Hum

Can you hear electricity?

When I plug in some things I can hear a really high pitched ringing sound. This is really prominent with one of the larger plugs, even before the cable is connected to the appliance or it is turned on. It was a super quiet night last night, and I followed this low whooshing hum, in my bedroom. It ended out to be my bedside digital clock, which I was not aware made that noise. I can also hear it when an analogue TV is turned on.The noise is not loud or prominent though. This is not my ears, I do know what tinnitus sounds like, but this is entirely situational.

The noise is NOT electricity it self. Electricity is the flow of electrons through metals, and occurs on an atomic level as electrons are ‘pushed’ along the metal.

The noise is likely to be the application of the electricity. Lots of appliances that use electricity create noise/sound as a by product of minuscule vibrations.
