Tinnitus Neck Pain

eustachian tube dysfunction?
For a couple of months now I’ve had problems with my eustachian tubes. crackling, popping in ears and back of my neck, ear pain and some mild tinnitus. My doctor told me to start taking pseudoephedrine and to stick with it. Here lately, I’ve been experiecing a popping like feeling in my throat whenever I swallow. As if my saliva is passing over something. I can only feel it if my head is at different positions. So what my question is, is if this is caused by my ear dysfunction, maybe a possibility of an inflamed node caused by the infection? Any ideas or remedies would be greatly appreciated!
The eustachian tube is a long tube leading from the middle ear to the back of the throat. It lets your ears adjust for the differences in pressure between the outside air and the inside of your head. If it gets blocked, you get the fullish feeling in your ears and fluid buildup that can interfere with your hearing and balance. If it is only partially blocked, you can get the popping sensation when you swallow or sneeze, or blow your nose. With the Sudafed helping to dry things out, you are probably in the process of clearing the tube, and it is currently only partially blocked. When you swallow, you temporarily stretch it out, and hear the pop that results when it “snaps” back. The sensation should subside once you get the blockage entirely cleared up. To help that along, you can clear the tube for yourself. Simply hold your nose, close your mouth, and blow gently as if you were actually blowing your nose. This will force air to go back up the tube, and you should feel the drums pop when the pressure is equalized. It may be uncomfortable at first, if the tube is partially blocked. It may be painful and impossible to hear a pop if it is blocked entirely. If it hurts, stop blowing. You can repeat this process as often as you like, it won’t hurt anything. Technically it’s called a Valsalva Maneuver, and is done by pilots all over the world to clear their ears after a change of altitude. Or you can chew gum, which will help as well by stretching and relaxing the tubes as you chew. Just be patient, and keep following the doctors directions. With the sudafed, it will take time, but it will clear up.
