Tinnitus Stress Related

Tinnitus problems….please help!!!?
Hi all. I have had a very loud ringing/roaring in my ear for about a week. Let me explain my situation. About a week ago, I woke up and could hardly hear anything. I thought it was ear wax build-up, so I tried to put some ear wax removal in my ear to relieve it. Didn’t work, so I went to get it removed by a doctor. A day or two later, I began to get the ringing. I can’t sleep peacefully anymore. I have used walkmans/mp3s for the past 15 years or so with no problem. Could that be the cause of such horrible ringing? I also read that some birth control pills can cause it as well, and I have been on ortho for 2 months. I plan on seeing another doctor soon, but is this something I just have to live with?? Could it also be stress-related, though I have never had this problem before when I was stressed.
A couple of things come to mind.
The first is that you did have wax buildup but you damaged your ear drums trying to remove it. Did you (or your doctor) stick anything in there that could have damaged them?
The second thing is that perhaps you have an ear or throat infection. Do you have a temperature at all? Any pain in the ear or throat? A headache?
Was the hearing loss you experienced only in one ear?
I did a quick check for causes of sudden hearing loss and tinnitus and I found 22 possible causes (this is probably not exhaustive).

http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/ is a handy site for this type of thing. I wouldn’t recommend that you use it in place of seeing a doctor, but it can be a handy guide.
Hope this helps.
