Random Deafness?

For about the last 6 years I have noticed, short bouts of “ringing” in my ears (sounds like hearing through a muffled speaker and that odd high pitched static you sometimes get from tv’s),it happens occasionally and doesn’t seem to have a trigger,it usually only lasts a couple of hours in one ear. (sometimes swapping to the opposite side before it vanishes *Tinnitus?*)
Recently I havn’t noticed it at all,but more alarmingly I keep getting bouts of “deafness” where for a few seconds to a few minutes I can’t hear anything at all, this will happen without warning and again seemingly without a trigger.

I’ve had my ears checked, they’re clear and my hearing range was normal when tested. So does anyone know what this might be?

(When I was young I was prone to ear infections and suffered with them a lot,is it possible they are the cause?)

well the scars from the prioro ear infections can certainly play a teoratical role but this can not be proven since you are describing a normal audiology testing. exposure to loud noise can cause this too. as long as your audiologist is happy, I wouldn’t worry about it, since abnormalities in this test would then suggest further workup. do remember to see the doctors again if the symptoms persist or worsen, good luck
