why does my ear crack when i yawn of swallow?
I’m really scared about this. I’ve already had an ear infection, and tinnitus. Please help me!
It’s called TMJ.
Your jaw is slipping out when you stretch it, or flex the muscles around it. The joint is right behind the ear, so that’s why you hear it.
If it’s not causing pain, you’re OK, but the situation can deteriorate over time, wearing out the cartilage in the joint, causing inflammation and possibly causing it to lock up. If that ever starts to happen, you’ll need surgery to fix it.
