Is This Permanent Tinnitus?
Ok, Me and my friend had bought some small rockets “fireworks” so we took the black powder out of it and put it in a small tube. There was black powder for an amount of like 3-4 small rockets in there. Now here is what happened, I was going to light the bomb/rocket and it blew up in my hand nothing happened to my hand or face. The only thing that happened was that I got a ringing sound in my ear mostly the right ear and now I hear a ringing sound. It has gone 3 days since it happened and its still ringing but is ringing less not as much as the first day or when it happened. Now my question is that is this permanent tinnitus? The bomb/rocket didn’t sound so much sounded kinda like this
I’m really worried so please give me a good answer and yes i know I was a real moron and i haven’t touched a lighter since it happened.

With it only being early it’s hard to tell if it is permanent Tinnitus. Some forms depending on what has happened to the ear can take as long as 3 months to get back to normal. If it has been longer than 3 months then it may be permanent or you may just need the help of an ENT Doctor.
For now all I can say is rest your ears for a week and if it still hasn’t gone go see a GP just to make sure no damage has been done.
If it still doesn’t go then go back to your GP again in 3 months time and he/she should refer you to an ENT Doctor. Not much point going back before 3 months unless it is really bothering you because only then will they refer you.
You should then be booked in for an appointment with an ENT Doctor at a hospital of your choice and also along with that they will book you for a regular hearing test the same day you see your ENT.
If it is Tinnitus then not much can be done due to the fact that it still to this day confuses many Doctors and Scientists. One of the biggest problems that causes confusion is the fact that there are many things in the inner ear that can cause the sound but at the same time modern science and technology would say your ear should be working fine. We currently only know what causes two forms of Permanent Tinnitus which are….
Damage to the Acoustic Nerve in the inner ear caused by heavy vibration.
Destruction of the small hairs in the inner ear which should if working fine help decrease the amount of vibration hitting your ear drum.
If your Tinnitus is not to do with the above two then it is largely a guess of what is causing your Tinnitus.
Looking at that vid you posted you may have just caused disscomfort to your ears and they will soon recover. It dosn’t seem loud enough or long enough to cause major damage to your ear.
